| Cynthia Young |
Cynthia has been doing ceramics professionally since 1994. She has an MFA in studio Ceramics from the University of Florida and an MA in Ceramic Art with a minor in Museum work from IUP. Her undergraduate degrees are in Art/Humanities and Math, and she studied Ceramic Engineering at Alfred University. Cynthia has her teacher certification and has taught math and art in public and private schools.
Cynthia has exhibited nationally and internationally. Some of her recent exhibitions include “Beyond the Brickyard” at the Archie Bray Foundation in Helena Montana, “Material Mastery” at Fort Hayes State University, Hays, Kansas, and the Marge Kalodner 2007 Graduate Exhibit at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia, an exhibition which claims to “highlight the best work of artists from Graduate Schools across the United States. Cynthia has had solo shows in Elizabethtown, PA and Lincoln, NE and participated in many juried group exhibitions across the US and in Japan.
Cynthia was selected as one of four participants representing the US in an International Workshop of Ceramics in Tokoname, Japan and has apprenticed at the Brier Hey Pottery in West Yorkshire, England and at the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in Doylestown, PA. Cynthia has taught at the University of Florida, Westminster College, the Mendocino Art Center in Mendocino, California and often assists at the Penland School of Craft near Asheville, North Carolina. She is currently doing studio work and is a regular instructor at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts and for Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.
